Follow these steps for successful DRTV advertising campaign

Follow these steps for a successful DRTV advertising campaign

1) Write a script to capture their attention.

2) Research your products target market. Get to know your customer and how they will use your product to benefit their lives.

3) Create an understandable and clear demonstration. You need to be thorough in how your product works and how simple it is for the end user.

4) Testing your commercial: Once the production is done, use a focus group of people to critique and (hopefully) compliment the things you have done correctly and what you have missed the mark on.

5) Cast characters in your infomercial who are relevant and relate-able. If the audience does not understand the character, they can not picture themselves using it.

The King of DRTV

Monday, February 9th, 2009

A.J. Khubani has been recognized as the kind of DRTV advertising. He has been selling products via infomercial for the last 20 years. He credits his success to the fact that he sells products that are problem solving. His commercials and products speak to the audience in a way that enlightens them to a new convenience  for their everyday life.

He has sold millions of dog steps, thousand of earing backs and has many more notable products to be responsible for. He claims that by enlightening the audience with ways for it to improve their lives, they feel necessity to call and order.

DRTV in the spotlight

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

The DRTV advertising popularity among todays culture is hard to miss. Everyone from morning news programs who demonstrate the effectiveness and conveniences these products, to the talk shows who make jokes about how silly some products can be. Any way you look at it, these products are getting more bang for their buck!

This exposure is additional marketing for products. No one can predict this exposure, but its mention on a national broadcast station is highly welcomed. Whether there is a joke being made, or the product is re-demonstrated, the product is receiving more brand awareness with each mention. Some people may not witness the actual infomercial, but are well aware of its presence because of it being mentioned in other media outlets.

DRTV producers and Marketers

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

The marketing department of a company and the producers of your DRTV ad should have a solid relationship. The marketing side knows the product better than anyone. They have studied who uses it, who their target market is and who would best fit as a future customer. The DRTV producers have an understanding of how the commercial will work and be received. The main factors to the commercial such as the characters, product demonstration and information given can all be handled  by a good DRTV production company. The  statistics and  financial  capabilities  among other  parts, can  be handled by the marketing side for the company. Once these parts are in place, it is important for both sides to work together to produce the best possible ad. Make sure to integrate web sales to your campaign. Increase the effectiveness by using memorable spokespeople to sell the product. Have your product demonstrated properly and clearly. All these factors are ways to improve upon your campaign.

Creativity in infomercials

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

The foundation for any good infomercial is the creative outline. It spells out the way in which the program will be received and understood by the viewer. The objectives and the tone set the stage for the product and how well it will be understood. The creative strategy step is crucial to the production development. Here are some things to keep in mind when planning the creative process to your infomercial:

  • Before and afters shots
  • Expert witness and Testimonials
  • Examples and demonstrations
  • Animations
  • Research Testimonials
  • Scientific Research

DRTV in prime time

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

DRTV has become a very popular way to advertise a product. Memorably, infomercials were seen late at night by smaller audiences. Today, infomercials are used by large established companies, small start up companies and even during Presidential campaigns. They are also no longer only viewed late at night. There are infomercials during prime time hours as well as weekends, early morning and afternoons. Infomercials have grown greatly in the past few years because the response they receive is real. Response to an infomercial can be tracked in real-time.

Infomercial Influence

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

A DRTV advertisment can influence more than just the audience during the time it is being aired. It can educate a viewer for future purchases. Branding is an important element to infomercial marketing. When a viewer tunes into an infomercial, the product awareness is heightened whether or not they choose to purchase the item. If they didn’t make the purchase when they saw the infomercial, but recognize the product in a retail store or even second viewing of the infomercial, the infomercial has created awareness in the viewers mind.
